In one of the fiercest chart battles in recent times, 5 Seconds of Summer have claimed this week’s UK number one album with their latest release CALM.
Narrowly beating Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia to the top by just 550 units, CALM is 5 Seconds of Summer’s second UK number one album, after their 2015 release Sounds Good Feels Good.
In a message on their Twitter account, the band thanked their fans for helping them to achieve their latest feat. “To the people that listen to our music, it is so hard to describe the joy and fulfilment that we get from writing music for you to listen to and enjoy as you pass through life. It is a pleasure to be on such an iconic journey with you as we grow up and our music progresses into new areas of imagination.
“With the state that the world is in at the moment, I hope our record CALM has brought you happiness and is a soundtrack to stimulate escapism from the confines of your bedroom. CALM was created for that exact reason. All our love. Stay well and keep lifting each other up!”
As well as claiming a second UK number one album, 5 Seconds of Summer have also once again topped the album charts in their native Australia. This is a clean sweep for Luke, Calum, Ashton and Michael, with all four of their albums topping the ARIA charts.
